Overview:
Omsana AM 10/40mg Tablet combines two active ingredients: Amlodipine (10mg) and Olmesartan Medoxomil (40mg). This combination medication is primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) by helping to relax blood vessels, improving blood flow, and easing the heart’s workload.
How It Works:
Amlodipine: A calcium channel blocker that prevents calcium from entering heart and blood vessel cells. This leads to the relaxation of blood vessels, lowering blood pressure.
Olmesartan Medoxomil: An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that blocks the action of angiotensin II, a hormone that narrows blood vessels. By inhibiting this action, Olmesartan helps lower blood pressure and improve blood flow.
Side Effects:
Common: Headache, dizziness, flushing, swollen ankles, pounding heartbeat, lightheadedness.
Less common: Diarrhea, nausea, dry mouth, abdominal pain, back pain.
Rare: Irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, persistent nausea.
Precautions:
Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart disease, liver disease, or low blood pressure.
Do not use if allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have low blood pressure.
